Samsung Galaxy S23 Rumor – Release Date, Design, and Specs to Expect

There are whispers on the street and rumors in the air; the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S23 series is around the corner. And as we eagerly await the official reveal, tech sleuths have been busy connecting the dots and painting a pretty good picture of Samsung’s next-gen flagship smartphones.

With anticipation high and rumor mills rustling louder, we’ve combed through the most reliable sources in the tech world to bring you a roundup of everything you can expect with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 series before the official announcement.

Release Date

The question on every tech enthusiast’s mind: When will the Samsung Galaxy S23 be launched? Ice Universe speculated a February 1st launch for the Galaxy S23 a while ago. And emerging details suggest the serial leaker was onto something—with Samsung recently scheduling a Galaxy Unpacked event for Feb.1.

And while the company did not explicitly reveal the devices they’ll be revealing, all signs point to the release of the Samsung Galaxy S23. Case in point, the fan-favorite Galaxy S22 series was announced to the world on February 9th, 2022.

Models and Design

To say the Galaxy S22 lineup was a hit would be an understatement. The smartphones were deservedly one of the best Android devices in 2022—and their sleek design had a big role to play in the warm market reception. As such, it would be hard to imagine Samsung reinventing the design language—and emerging renders by Onleaks and Smartprix suggest the same.

Samsung Galaxy S23 rumors point to three models in the series:

  • Samsung Galaxy S23: According to rumors reported by GSM Arena, the base model will measure 5.76 x 2.78 x 0.30 inches.
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus: The larger ‘Plus’ model will measure 6.21 x 2.99 x 0.30 inches—a barely noticeable bump from the 6.20 x 2.98 x 0.30-inch dimensions of the S22+.
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Ice universe and SamMobile report that the Galaxy S23 Ultra (aka., the crème de la crème of the lineup) will measure 6.43 x 3.07 x 0.35 inches.

Display

While Samsung can tinker with the contrast ratios and brightness of the upcoming flagships, most rumors suggest the core display specs will remain largely unchanged from last year’s S22 lineup.

The base Galaxy S23 is likely to feature a 6.1-inch (2,340×1,080 pixels) OLED panel. Its immediate upgrade, the Galaxy S23+ may come with a 6.6-inch (2,340×1,080 pixels) OLED display. As per TENAA’s certification documents (via SamMobile), the Galaxy S23 Ultra (SM-G9180) has a QHD+ resolution (3,088×1,440 pixels) display. All phones are believed to have a hole-punch notch and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate.

Cameras

This is where the specs get juicy! If exciting reports by SamMobile and ETNews come to pass, expect a whopping 200MP primary camera on the Samsung S23 Ultra. This is part of a quad camera setup—including a 12MP (or 10MP) ultrawide, a 10MP (or 12MP) 3x telephoto, and a 10-megapixel telephoto with 10x optical zoom.

Ice universe also cautiously speculates that the 200-megapixel primary camera may get an f/1.7 aperture and 0.6μm-sized pixels. You may also have the ability to record 8K videos at 30fps—up from the 24fps capture in the S22.

The base model Galaxy S23 and the S23+ are likely to have the same rear camera specs as their 2022 predecessors.

Performance and Battery

Now, what’s under the hood? How functional is the upcoming Galaxy S23 lineup compared to its competitors?

All devices in the series will run on Qualcomm’s latest processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (AC version)—which has a higher clock speed than the vanilla Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (AB version). The most powerful of the lot (the S23 Ultra) is expected to boast an octa-core processor with three CPU clusters running at 3.36GHz, 2.8GHz, and 2GHz, respectively.

When it comes to memory and storage, the S23 and S23 have 8GB RAM—with storage options of between 128GB and 512GB. The Ultra comes with 8GB/12GB RAM and up to 1TB of storage. One interesting rumor claims that the Galaxy S23 lineup will come equipped with faster (130%) and more efficient (20% less power consumption) LPDDR5X RAM. This may give the company an edge in its fierce competition with Apple.

Powering the devices is a 3,900 mAh (base model), 4,700 mAh (S23+), and 5,000 mAh (S23 Ultra) battery. The Plus and Ultra are expected to support 45W wired fast charging and 10W wireless charging—while the based S23 makes due with 25W wired fast charging.

Satellite Support?

Apple made the headlines with its SOS feature that gave iPhone 14 users access to satellite communication during emergencies. And according to rumors covered by Tom’s Guide, Samsung may be borrowing from Apple’s playbook by working with Iridium Communication to bring satellite support to the Galaxy S23 series.

Price

With all its nifty features, what are the prices of the Samsung S23 lineup?

Initial rumors pointed to a likely increase in S23 prices—and with inflation running rampant—it made sense. But a screenshot of Verizon’s internal system (as posted on Reddit) suggests that Samsung may maintain the S22 prices despite the tough economy. Here are the purported Samsung Galaxy S23 prices:

  • Base Galaxy S23: Prices start at $799.99
  • Galaxy S23 Plus: Prices start at $999.99
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra: Prices start at $1,199.99

Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus Device Review

Samsung fanatics rejoiced as the behemoth unveiled their new smartphone lineup: the Samsung Galaxy S 22 series. The unpacked event took place on February 9th. The S 22 lineup, just like every Galaxy S phone released in the last 12 years, was rumored to have better and more advanced features than its predecessor. But, now that the phones are out, how true are the rumors?

Samsung Galaxy S22 vs Galaxy S22+ vs Galaxy S22 Ultra: Price, Specifications Compared | NDTV Gadgets 360The S22 series, termed to be the best-of-the-best from Samsung, consists of three models: the Galaxy S 22, S 22 plus, and S 22 Ultra—each offering a new experience, and of course, at an extra dime each. The three models are already available for preorder as the shipping started later the same month after the event.

The S 22 plus offers an “expansive, colorful, and responsive” screen and an additional “impressive” photo capability, while the unique thing about the S 22 Ultra is its camera zooming quality. The S 22 so far has received a not-so-good review since its adjustments are minor compared to S 21. In fact, the S 22 and S 22 plus have a weak point— their battery life. But, the good thing is that the duo is fast and reliable.

The prevalent thing about the lineup is that they are powered by a 4nm processor that can detect and monitor app performance directing more or less power depending on the need. This type of processor is the first in Samsung’s Galaxy phone. Additionally, the company added that the Nightography and auto framing features would be available on all three phones. These features are set to ease your vlogging in the dark thirst and concurrently track and recognize up to 10 people when using the video mood.

It’s safe to say that the three phones are an iterative upgrade to the s21. Because, as seen in the Galaxy S 22, not much has changed either— even the price range isn’t as huge. The only thing differentiating the two is that the S22 has a slightly smaller battery and screen.

For the s22 Ultra, almost everything is advanced, but we’re concentrating on the s22 and s22 plus here.

And now that you’re aware of the basics and somewhat the things you could expect below is all the nitty-gritty work to help you understand the two phones better as you quench your geek lust.

  1. Samsung Galaxy s22 review- Software and performance

Two top-end processors power the flashy s22: the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 chipset in the U.S and Asia and Exynos 2200 chipset in Europe other parts of the world. This is fantastic news because the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is responsible for some of the best Android performance. However, even though it’s the most powerful chip of the two, not many can notice the difference. And either way, you’ll easily enjoy your gaming and other tasks.

The two chips are paired with 8GB RAM, and depending on the version you choose 128GB or 256GB storage. The snapdragon 8 gen 1 supports a faster processing speed and a higher and superior camera quality compared to the other 5G platforms. And with this model still supporting both sub-6Ghz networks and mmWave, it’s clear that Samsung is fully committed to 5G.

The Snapdragon X65 modem is used in the Galaxy S 22 as Qualcomm’s top-notch model until the end of the year when the X70 will start shipping.

  1. Display

If you’re familiar with Samsung phones, you’ll know that they have decent displays. The S 22’s screen is no different. It has brilliant and vibrant colors, dark blacks, and high maximum brightness.

The Galaxy S22 features a 6.1-inch display, which is 0.1 inches smaller than the Galaxy S21. The change is so subtle that you wouldn’t notice it unless you compared the two handsets side by side. The panel uses AMOLED technology and boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and 240Hz touch input rate.

This model got lower peak brightness compared to the others. The 1,300-nit peak brightness, however, is nothing to worry about. The clarity doesn’t change a lot under sunlight, but you’ll still have to fully crank up the brightness. And when you do, the color contrast will not be affected. Samsung included the Vision Booster technology to help maintain the colors even if the screen is at its brightest.

  1. Design

The materials on the Galaxy S22 have been upgraded, with an aluminum ring around the midsection and a Gorilla Glass Victus + glass back. And even though there’s some change in the material, the design remains the same. The only distinction is that the camera array’s color was different from the rest of the device’s back on the Galaxy s21, whereas the color matches on the Galaxy S22.

Samsung ensured that the material change would help with durability. But since the glass would still break if dropped on a hard surface, ensure you invest in getting one of the most refined Galaxy S22 cases and screen protectors.

If you decide to order from the company itself, you’ll get cream, graphite, violet, and sky-blue colors. Otherwise, the phone comes in Phantom White, Phantom Black, Green, and Pink Gold.

  1. Camera

Dual View and Single Take modes in the Samsung phones have, over the years, been helpful for photo-holics. However, the same modes have been used in the S 22, meaning no new experience will be offered.

The camera in this model feels a bit different. Its telephoto and main snappers are different, while the 12MP ultra-wide camera and 10 MP front-facing camera are still the same as its predecessor. The most significant change in the camera is the upgrade in the primary camera from 12MP to a 50 MP sensor. This change promises bolder and brighter colors.

While compared to the S 21, the S 22 has a 3x better optical zoom. However, the telephoto is 10Mp, a fall from 64MP.

  1. Battery

The battery life is one aspect most people don’t like about the phone. The battery capacity is small (3700mAh) as compared to its predecessor. And in some way, we can say it’s still a good thing since it should charge faster when you’re in a rush. The charging speed remains to be the same (4.5w and 15W), with it supporting both wireless and reverse wireless charging.

Samsung Galaxy s22 plus

The mid-tier models from Samsung have always had a plus added at the end. And in the Galaxy S 2022 flagship, the tradition still goes on. The Samsung Galaxy S 22 Plus is the best “consumer” device among the three. Here’s why:

  1. DESIGN

To increase robustness to the S22 plus, a gloss metal frame made with Samsung’s proprietary Armor Aluminum was used. This material helps the phone not disintegrate or scratch easily after a single drop. But you can still get a screen protector and a cover to avoid regrets.

And for comfort and beauty, because Samsung knows clearly that most of their clients love phone looks, a Gorilla Glass Victus plus front and back was also used.

The Contour Cut design- as Samsung calls it- is a thoughtful evolution of its predecessor. This helps in enclosing the camera sensors in separate sections. Although the design is similar to the s21, the camera module in S 22 is the same color as its body— the same effects found on the Galaxy S21FE.

Samsung opted for a frosted rear coating to help disguise the users’ fingerprints.

As you hold the phone, you’ll notice it’s not as curved as the iPhone 13 pro, but neither is it flat. Its shape is made specifically to ensure your fingers and palm will be safe as you hold or use the phone.

The Galaxy S22 Plus is palm-stretching, but you can easily use the volume rocker and power button (found on the right edge) with one hand.

The phone is available in Pink Gold, Green, Phantom Black, and Phantom White. The cream, pale blue, cream, and gray are only available on the Samsung website.

  1. Display

Is the S 22 plus super pricey or super cheap? The phone is definitely a good buy, but considering it’s a Samsung phone—they always go out of their way on their display— this device display isn’t as good. This phone has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 (or FHD+), just like most Android phones.

The good news is its maximum brightness (1,750 nits), and the contrast are excellent- thank you to the 6.5-inch AMOLED screen. The two collaborate with Samsung’s new Vision Booster system to tweak both brightness and contrast, enabling clear visibility in different light environments. The action when playing games or scrolling around is also smooth because of the 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. FHD+ is sufficient for most tasks, as only a few streaming services and games provide content of a higher quality.

  1. Performance and Software

Powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm, the phone has a standard 8Gb RAM and storage tiers of 128GB AND 256GB. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is the only flagship phone that has an extra option when it comes to RAM. And however, the phone doesn’t have a high RAM tally; its performance is still surprisingly great.

The Galaxy S22 has Samsung’s own One UI 4.1 and comes with the Android 12. And as far as androids are concerned, Samsung, in the unveiling event, pledged to have the S series get four years of software updates. They’ll set a record in android phones currently battling a reputation of always being behind on OS updates.

  1. Cameras

The Galaxy S22 Plus is a significant improvement over its predecessor regarding the camera. In contrast to the Galaxy S21 Plus’s 3x hybrid zoom, the phone offers a rear 3x optical zoom.

The sensor on the phone is bigger and able to allow more light. In principle, this should result in better evening photography. In actuality, though, Samsung continues to struggle with low-light photographs that are excessively yellow and have significant white balance issues.

A 10MP selfie camera is located on the front of the phone. The 50MP main rear sensor is joined by a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto sensor.

  1. Battery

First things first, there isn’t the inclusion of a charger. But when it comes to wired charging, the phone supports a 45W and 15W wireless charging- 20mins until halfway charged. Second, the phone uses a 4,500 mAh power pack, a 300mAh loss compared to its predecessor.

Phones that will see you through many years

The S22 and S22 plus are an excellent buy. With great day-to-day performance, versatile camera system able to take great videos and pictures, and not forgetting the pretty decent design the phones have, either of the phone will see you through many years, of course if taken care of. You can boost the robust material used with a screen protector from Tech Armor.  The colors the two phones come in is also a plus for the behemoth.

And a quick tip: Don’t leave the house without the charger.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Rumors

Samsung Galaxy S22: Rumored pricing, specs, and expectations about the lineup

The Korean giant- Samsung- flaunted their Galaxy S21 last year and ensured it was a refinement rather than a redesign of its predecessor, Galaxy S20. This has proven that they never rest on their laurels when it comes to releasing their new flagship phones. And the unpacked Samsung galaxy event happening this February affirms this. Luckily for the impatient people, rumors have kept us updated on what’s coming. And based on everything leaked so far, we already have a relatively decent sense of what Samsung has in store for its flagship phone lineup.

If you’re still wondering what the event will be for: well, its entry of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series to earth. Of course—and as always— the wait has brought up rumors and leaks, giving us a mind-glimpse of the phone. One rumor suggests that the s series lineup will also be joined by the Galaxy tablet S8, a predecessor of the tab S7 that debuted in 2020.

But will the Galaxy S22 be cheaper? What exclusive feature will it offer?

All the important rumored information provided down below will paint a picture of what’s in store.

So, read on…

Samsung Galaxy S22 event: what to expect from Unpacked 2022 - The Verge

When will the Samsung Galaxy S22 get released?

Samsung, at long last, confirmed the release date of the Galaxy S22 lineup. The unpacked event termed “Epic Standard” will happen on the 9th of February 2022. It will commence at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT / 3 p.m. GMT (or 1 a.m. AEST on February 10) as a wholly virtual event.

For those living in the US, chances will be that they can purchase the device prior to its launching event. In fact, it’s already rumored that the website has an open reservation for both the tab S8 and the smartphones.

Counteracting this information, another curious leaker hinted that: given Samsung’s habit of waiting two weeks between announcing a handset and putting it on sale, the availability of the device is unknown. However, the leaker also pointed out that it could be on the 24th of February, but who knows?

Last year the S21 was announced on the 14th and was put out for sale on January, the same month, 29: a two-week difference—let’s hope it will be the same this year

However, if you plan on getting either of the series, ensure you pre-order fast, since, as recently leaked, it could take up to three months to get delivered due to the high demands.

The rumored price

The Samsung Galaxy S21 range debuted at a lower price than the S20, but will the S22 be even cheaper? If the leaks are to be trusted, the answer is probably no.

We don’t know for sure how much the Samsung Galaxy will cost. And referencing the Samsung Galaxy S21, which began at $799 / £769 / AU$1,249, the S21 Plus, which began at $999 / £949 / AU$1,549, and the S21 Ultra that started at $1,199 / £1,149 / AU$1,849, leaks assume that for each model will be added $100 to its predecessor in the US. This means that the basic S22 will cost $899 (about £660 / AU$1,245), the Galaxy S22 Plus will cost $1,099 (roughly £805 / AU$1,525), and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will cost $1,299 (nearly £955 / AU$1,800).

Samsung Galaxy s22 rumors on:

Performance

The Galaxy S22 series is expected to build on the foundation laid by the Galaxy S21 series and provide better performance in several critical areas.

The Galaxy S22 will be equipped with an Exynos processor as well as a Qualcomm chipset. The area, however, will determine the choice of the CPU be used. The Galaxy S22 will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon CPU, although nothing is confirmed yet. In most markets, the CPU powers the Galaxy S22 series, and since they have shown up the S22 benchmark, it’s a great sign that its performance will be top-notch.

For the galaxy s22 Ultra, it’s rumored that a new version of a chip with AMD graphics will be used—the Exynos 2200. This CPU has also been spotted in the benchmarks. It’s believed to improve battery life, multitasking, speed, and games.

Display

The sharp displays on Samsung phones are well-known: no surprise there. The company has a display division that invented the ‘Edge’ screens, making the phone side look like they are cascading.

It’s leaked that the S22 Ultra will have the best glass and tech. It will feature the brightest OLED screen to ever be in a Samsung device. As noted by WinFuture, the S22 Plus and Ultra will reach 1750 nits.

Comparing the S21 Ultra, which has a variable refresh rate technology that doesn’t go down to 1HZ right away, the S22 Ultra is rumored to have LTPO. This means its variable refresh rate scales up to its max when necessitated and goes back down, saving battery.

Another source claim that the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus will have a reduced resolution compared to their predecessors. They’ll have a 1080 x 2340 display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 1440 x 3088 (or maybe a 1440 x 3080) display with a 19.3:9 aspect ratio.

Samsung is expected to reduce the Galaxy S22. The regular Galaxy S22 will have a 6.06-inch screen, down from 6.2 inches on the S21— this is according to leaker Mauri QHD. It’s also possible that the S22 Plus will be smaller. Mauri QHD predicts a 6.5-inch display, down from 6.7 inches, and a 6.81-inch display on the S22 Ultra. These specifications are identical to those reported in a second leak by a trustworthy source, Ice universe, in mid-August, suggesting they could be credible.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are rumored to have flat displays, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra, a very tiny curve will be added. The two less expensive variants would have flat displays according to case leaks.

Design

The design of the Galaxy s22 ultra is the cause of the discrepancy in design. The leaks claim that it will be blocky, a feature that will replace the Galaxy Note. It will have a stylus holder with floating camera lenses on the back rather than holding them separately in the camera block. However, a periscope lens is missing in both; let’s hope it appears. The matte in them seams glossier and their camera lenses extending more. This is as seen in the pictures posted by 91Mobiles’ Yogesh Brar. When it comes to the other variants, the design might remain.

If you remember the previous release of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy S21 when they were rumored to include cameras emerging from beneath the display, the exact mock-up has been done to the S22. It is believed that these phones will have an inclusion of one of the biggest designs ever seen. Ideally, the internal display will pop up and occupy the punch hole when the camera isn’t used. This hence creates an uninterrupted display.

There is also a discussion regarding the S Pen stylus. Just as in the S21, the pen is expected to work with the S22. The S22 Ultra has a stylus slot, according to renders by OnLeaks and Digit. This would reduce the chances of losing it. A recent tweet from Ice universe showed the S22 Ultra’s screen having squared-off corners, implying that space for the stylus would be available.

The S22’s speculated active cooling system is in the same boat. The phone’s rumored ‘Adaptive Heat Fan’ would keep temperatures cool during processor-intensive tasks like 3D gaming. As great as this may sound, its disadvantage makes it appear as a ‘not necessary’ aspect.

Finally, leaks assume that since standard S21 has a plastic body, it won’t be surprising that the s22 plus will be plastic. Luckily, this design might prompt a significant price drop for the ones watching their pockets.

When it comes to color, analyst Ross Young tweeted that the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus will be availed in pink gold, black, white and green while the Samsung Galaxy Ultra in green, white, dark red and a black model.

Cameras

The cameras in a phone are a huge aspect to consider, especially for social media gurus. And Samsung never disappoints. In the Galaxy s22 and s22 plus, it is rumored that the primary sensor will have 50MP, a 12 MP telephoto that can optically zoom 3times, and 12 MP ultra-wide. This is a huge difference from its predecessors.

For the S22 Ultra, a report said that it would have a 108MP primary camera, two 12MP telephoto cameras, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The phone’s main camera is expected to feature Gorilla Glass technology to prevent reflection and glare. This information was backed up by another claim which said that the Ultra would include a feature dubbed Super Clear Lens.

When it comes to the zoom potential of the phones, well, it’s rumored that not much will change. However, another source says that a continuous optical zoom should be expected: all zoom levels up to the maximum (likely 10x) will be optical, with most phones relying on hybrid or digital for the mid- zoom ranges.

A confident source said that even though the Galaxy s22 ultra camera will have the same megapixels counts as in the s21, there will still be some slight changes—pixel and sensor sizes. And while all this sounds cool, there’s another rumor that tried to add a cherry on top. It claimed that they would include a macro mode, night mode improvements, and – thanks to AI – better general shots.

Battery and charging

Samsung has confirmed that there will not be chargers in the Galaxy S22 series boxes. So, ensure that you spare more money for getting it.

It is reported that Samsung tried 45W or 65W powering on these flagship devices. This would be a significant upgrade above the S21 series’ 25W. This powering, in particular, has been rumored numerous times, but it is possible that it will only be available on the S22 Ultra. However, a recent report suggests that the Galaxy S22 Plus also will receive it. Other mid-range and luxury Android handsets range from 65W to 120W, so this value is still below the competition. There’s also a likelihood that the entire range will be limited to 25W charging, as evidenced by a certification listing.

Coming to its battery, WinFuture leaked that the Galaxy S22 battery is at 3700mAh, the Ultra at 5000mAh, and the Plus at 4500mAh. These sizes are a downgrade from their predecessors.

Tech Armor—for your Galaxy S22 screen protection

For power users who aren’t as thrilled will the devices in the market right now, it’s time you pack up your patience because your dream phone might be landing. And of course, once they are here, ensure you get the best screen protectors from Tech Armor—We all know how disheartening and displeasing using a cracked phone can be.

Design

The resounding feedback from the online community of tech reviewers—including MrWhoseTheBoss, MKBHD, and Unbox Therapy—is that the Samsung Galaxy S21s are eye candy, design-wise. They have an understated, clean, and sleek look.

The most obvious change to the phones’ design is the interesting integration of the camera module on the back. Samsung decided to retire the ‘Island’ design that had its fair share of critics—and instead opted to merge the camera module to the Aluminum midframe in a seamless flow. This reduces the annoying wobble and gives the phone an aesthetic upgrade. The back design is further compounded by a two-tone color, which Samsung calls ‘Phantom’.

Other noteworthy features include a USB 3.2 Type-C port, NO headphone jack, a speaker grille on the bottom, dust protection, and an IP68 waterproof rating.

Cameras

To quote TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung, “be on the lookout for super-intelligent, pro-grade camera and video capabilities in 2021.” Could this refer to the S21 lineup? Maybe; maybe not—we’ll have to put the lenses to the test. But here’s what they hold on paper:

The Galaxy S21’s camera setup is more-or-less borrowed from its predecessor’s—with the exception of the highest-end Galaxy S21 Ultra.  Both the Galaxy S21 and S21+ sport a triple camera setup—consisting of the Main Sensor (12MP), an Ultrawide Sensor (12MP), and a Telephoto Lens (64MP).

The Ultra variant has two 10MP cameras and a 108MP main camera with a spruced-up second-gen image sensor to make up for the shortcomings of its predecessor.

If you’re one of those people who can’t resist recording noteworthy events, the Galaxy S21 Ultra supports 4K (60fps) video recording. And there’s a “Vlogger View” feature in the camera software that allows you to use both the rear and front camera at the same time—sweet, right!

Battery

The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra models will feature a 4,000mAh, 4,800 mAh, and 5,000mAh battery, respectively. While this doesn’t offer a significant boost from the Galaxy S20 Series, you can expect your device to hold more power courtesy of improved chipset efficiencies.

Charge-wise, they boast of 15W wireless charging, 4.5 reverse wireless charging, and 25W USB Power Delivery 3.0 fast charging. Again, we couldn’t expect any less from a flagship.

Accessories – Ditching the Charger, iPhone-Style

Remember when Apple decided to leave out a charger in its iPhone 12 packaging for environmental reasons? Well, Samsung is heading down that same road.

The recently announced devices will not ship with chargers in most regions. If you want one, you can order it at a reduced price. And that’s not all… You should also forget about the microSD card slot (not that anyone uses it anymore). This drive to reduce e-waste results in an uncharacteristically small and compact packaging box. Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see how the Android community responds to the changes.

Amid all the dialed down accessories there’s one noteworthy addition. Samsung just tossed their famous S Pen Stylus into the Galaxy S Series lineup. Specifically, the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Although the device does not have the same housing cavity as the Galaxy Note Series, Samsung offers case options to both store and charge the Stylus. Could this spell the end of the Galaxy Note Series?

Let’s Talk Money – Galaxy S21 Prices

The past year has not been kind to a lot of people—and Samsung seems to understand this situation. This is because the phone manufacturer slashed the base price of the Galaxy S21 lineup.

The Galaxy S21 ($799) and S21+ ($999) are a whopping $200 cheaper than their predecessors—while the S21 Ultra ($1199) takes the price-cutting up a notch by retailing for $300 less than the S20 Ultra before it. While they’re still relatively high-priced, who would say no to an upgrade that saves you a couple of bucks?

Samsung Came Out Swinging!

The year may be in its infant stages, but it seems we already have a winner for the most value-driven phone of 2021. It’s interesting to see what other manufacturers have up their sleeves to usurp Samsung’s strong start.

And as you contemplate grabbing the biggest and baddest Android device in town, play safe! Observe COVID-19 safety rules and slap a protective screen protector from Tech Armor for your precious Samsung devices. (PS: Kick your hygiene up a notch with a Tech Armor Cleaning Kit).

Samsung Note 20 – Rumors

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 is Around the Corner – We’re in The Endgame Now!

The best Samsung phones typically rank as the crème de la crème of Android handset. In 2020, we’ve already seen the Samsung Galaxy S20 series take the market by storm—and Samsung seems to be prepping for another exciting release to shake the industry even further.

According to developing rumors and leaks, Samsung is scheduled to release the highly-anticipated Galaxy Note 20 series this fall (somewhere around August 2020). The big-screen phones are expected to deliver top-of-the-range performance and advanced features to rival any competitor—including the upcoming iPhone 12.

Here’s a breakdown of the relevant rumors and ‘word on the street’ about the Samsung Galaxy Note 20. What should you expect from the new stylus-packing flagship? Read on for more on the possible release date, noteworthy (*pun intended) features, and specs.

Disclaimer: Some of the rumored features might make you drool—so brace yourself!

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 launch event details just leaked | Tom's Guide

First Things First – The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Release Date

The Samsung Galaxy Note lineup is typically launched in Fall (August/September) of every year. In line with tradition, several rumors point to a similar release date in August 2020—even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The latest and juiciest leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 will be released during the Samsung Unpacked event of August 5th. As reported by Daniel Petrov from PhoneArena, this rumor comes from a prolific leaker—Ice Universe—who has a somewhat good track record when it comes to offering sneak peeks of the latest Samsung flagships. As if this is not exciting enough, the rumor goes on to say that Samsung might also unveil the Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Tab S7, and the Galaxy Watch 2 in the same event.

Although Samsung has not explicitly provided the release date, they hinted that two eagerly-awaited devices—the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2—will be launched during the second half of 2020. In an official statement, the company said, “Looking ahead to the second quarter … the company will continue to offer differentiated products in the premium segment with the launch of new foldable and Note models.”

But contrary to the norm, The Korean Herald reports that the unveiling is expected to take place online for the first time in 2020 for obvious reasons (…COVID-19). The same report goes on to suggest that release will still take place in August.

However, it’s safer to take all the ‘release date’ rumors with a pinch of salt. The global pandemic has already delayed several launch events—and it’s hard to predict the turn of events at Samsung, let alone your local tech store. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is only a few months away as expected.

Leaked Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Display and Design Specs

Most rumors point to the release of two models—the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Plus. But could there be a third entry in the name of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra? Well, possibly! According to Abid Iqbal from MySmartPrice, a Bluetooth SIG certification listing suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is also in the works. Whether that’s the case or not, we’re excited to see how it all unfolds.

As for the screen size, differing reports place the Galaxy Note 20’s screen size between 6.4” and 6.7”. In an earlier post by Tom Bedford from TechRadar, he quoted tweets by Ross Young (a supply chain expert) who claimed that the Note 20 will have a 6.42” display and a resolution of 2345 x 1084. Young also said that the Galaxy Note 20 Plus will come with a 6.87” screen and a resolution of 3096 x 1444. He went further to suggest that the Galaxy Fold 2 will feature in place of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

There are also several leaked renders of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Plus design. The most interesting one being a 360-degree video showing the device from all angles. As expected, most rumors claim that the Galaxy Note 20 series will boast of a 120Hz refresh rate.

Introducing…(drumroll)…The 3D Sonic Max Fingerprint Scanner!

Perhaps one of the most stand out features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 phones will be the incorporation of the 3D Sonic Max fingerprint scanner—making it the first handset to feature the sensor.

Essentially, it builds on the in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensors seen on the Samsung Galaxy S20—but with several noteworthy upgrades. Unlike its predecessor, the 3D Max fingerprint sensor by Qualcomm is significantly larger, easier to use, and more responsive.

If this rumor materializes come August 2020, it could allow users to unlock their phones with two fingers simultaneously. This not only provides an added layer of security, but it also comes at a time when Face ID isn’t as reliable due to facemasks (…COVID-19).

Sure, this biometric system sounds cool, secure, and convenient—but it can cause problems as far as screen protectors are concerned. Gaps between the display and the screen protector can interfere with the accuracy of the ultrasonic waves. This is why you should invest in high-quality screen protectors from reliable companies such as… you guessed it, Tech Armor!

Other Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Features – Camera, Battery, Processor, and Price

Calling all serial snappers! A leak from Ice Universe claims that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Plus will feature a 108 MP main camera, a 13MP periscope lens (seen in the S20 Ultra), 12MP ultra-wide lens, 50x digital zoom, and a laser focus system. Sure, this is not a lot to go by, but it’s juicy nonetheless.

To little surprise, the device is rumored to run on a Snapdragon 865 chipset. This makes sense since Samsung flagships typically come with the latest Snapdragon chipsets—case in point, the Samsung Galaxy S20 line. For regions that get devices fitted with Samsung’s Exynos processors, expect an Exynos 992 (or 990) chipset. Other leaks claim that a 4,000mAh and 4,500mAh battery will power the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Plus respectively.

As for the price, we don’t expect the Galaxy Note 20 to go for anything less than $1,000. This is based on the pricing of previous models—i.e., the Galaxy Note 10 ($949) and the Galaxy S20 ($999).

Are You Excited for the Samsung Galaxy Note 20?

With Fall 2020 approaching, this might be the right time to decide whether you’re ready to splash some cash for a Galaxy Note 20 upgrade. If the rumors are anything to by, this might be one of the best phones in 2020—and a glimmer of sunshine in an otherwise disaster-laden year.

If you decide this is the device of your dreams and you want it gracing your palms, consider protecting your investment with the help of Tech Armor. Think of our screen protectors as a low-cost insurance policy for your valuable handsets. Don’t watch over $1,000-worth of mobile ingenuity ‘crash-and-burn’ from a single slip—get some Tech Armor to take the fall.

A Screen Protector for Your Phone: Why Privacy Should Matter?

There was a time, not too long ago, when computers were the absolute focal points of most people’s lives. They did everything on it: work, gaming and most recently, social networking; if there was something that couldn’t necessarily be done by hand, it was done digitally, and computers were the prime way to do it.

Many of those functions have been taken over by mobile platforms, and the evidence is clear: mobile gaming is bigger than console gaming in some parts of the world, and plenty of companies have been scrambling to make mobile versions of their more popular business solutions so workers can work on the go to maximize productivity: the majority of simplified versions of complex business solutions and productivity apps designed to make our lives that much easier while we are all on our way somewhere. Why? Mobile is simply more convenient: why take out a laptop for business and/or work, or a console when you can do whatever you need to on the go?

Unfortunately, this convenience has come at a price. One with hefty repercussions for the naive and over credulous… PRIVACY. Whenever you’re using a mobile device in public, you can be almost certain that there will be at least the odd person in any crowd with a certain malicious intent who has developed a certain acquired skill at intaking the various passwords, credit card numbers, or even making himself a VIP guest to the very private conversations you might be having with someone you might be chatting with.

In simple terms, this can be called Visual Hacking. A method of hacking that has been around for ages (you may have almost been a victim of luring your PIN code for your credit card or ATM). Today our phones hold and transfer much more personal information and access to much more information than we could have anticipated a decade ago. People are blatantly leaving the content of their screens exposed. Logins, payroll information and countless other sensitive data about you, your friends and family, and the company you work for. All of that! You need to consider if you are okay with this. Or if you should shield this content from visual hackers. How, you ask? There is only one simple and near fail-safe way of doing so, and that is with a privacy screen protector!

A privacy screen protector shields the content of your screen from everyone except you. Simple as that! This means that you can use your phone or tablet everywhere you go without having to worry about visual hackers – or people finding your choice of YouTube video less funny than you!

BUT HOW DOES IT WORK?
Privacy screen protectors have a special filter (the privacy filter) that allows light to pass through from certain angles. You can compare screen privacy filters with traditional window blinds. Except, the blinds (the filter in this case) are preset to a narrow front angle, letting you see everything clearly, while people next to you are unable to see the content of your screen. All they see is a darkened/blackened screen. In the case of Tech Armor Screen Protectors, the viewing angle is straight on, but not from the sides. In other words: Only you see what you really want to see and no one else.

Privacy filters are an easy way of keeping strangers from seeing what it is on your phone or tablet. And they are available for laptops as well, meaning you can work on your computer everywhere without having to think about anything but working. This is especially useful if you are handling essential documents, emails e.g., working on public transportation. Or just want to browse your device privately.

ANTI-GLARE COATING
You have most likely tried it yourself: The sun is out and it is impossible to see anything on your screen! With an anti-glare coating, light reflections are reduced, letting you see the content of your screen more clearly. This means that you can use your laptop outside when working, something that is practically impossible without an anti-glare coating. Please note, that the screen will be slightly darker when fitted with a privacy screen protector (due to the privacy filter).

BLUE LIGHT REDUCTION
Tech Armor’s privacy screen protectors feature blue light reduction. Blue light has been proven to affect your sleep negatively and disrupt your circadian rhythm. This occurs because blue light inhibits the release of sleep hormones, causing us to become more awake. It is for this reason that scientists recommend that exposure to blue light at night is decreased. And this is where privacy screen protectors come in handy. They can reduce the amount of blue light emitted by your device, which decreases the effects of the blue light. You will still get exposed to it, but the effects will be reduced. Without knowing exactly how much the effects are reduced, it is fair to say that using your phone or tablet at night won’t disrupt your sleep as much when using a privacy screen protector.

Bottom Line? Don’t put yourself at risk in this day of age, invest in privacy screen protector that you can absolutely rely on. Your privacy matters to you, so it matters to us, too, and we are committed to your absolute privacy.

Samsung Galaxy S10

Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, S10E: finally!

Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, S10E: finally!

Samsung did not hold back this year with a Fold version too!

Although it was preceded by a vast amount of leaks and early imagery, this year’s Unpacked was definitely an eventful one with lots more devices coming from Samsung. Let’s do a rundown with the first impressions for these new offerings.

Samsung Galaxy S10

Yep, the South Korean tech-giant took it up a notch by adding the Galaxy S10e this year (guessing as a nod to the iPhone XR) and we were treated to an intro for the new Galaxy Fold too.

First off, here’s a rundown of specs for the 4 smartphones:

Device Screen Colors (in the US) Price
Galaxy S10 (LTE) 6.1-in curved Quad HD+ AMOLED

(Infinity-O Display)

Prism White, Prism Black, Flamingo Pink, Prism Blue Starts at $899
Galaxy S10 (5G) 6.7-in Dynamic AMOLED (still to be announced… available end of April)
Galaxy S10+ 6.4-in curved Quad AMOLED

(Infinity-O Display)

Prism White, Prism Black, Flamingo Pink, Prism Blue, Ceramic White, Ceramic Black Starts at $999
Galaxy S10E 5.8-in flat Full HD+ AMOLED Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Flamingo Pink Starts at $749
Galaxy Fold 4.6-in display that takes up about 3/4ths of the frontWhen opened 7.3-in tablet Cosmo Black, Space Silver, Martian Green, Astro Blue Starts at $1,980

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

After a long period of “will they or won’t they”, the Galaxy S10 and S10+ will in fact be the first mobile devices from Samsung to feature an Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner from Qualcomm behind the display, while the Galaxy S10e can be unlocked with a Capacitive Fingerprint Sensor on the side button.

Samsung Galaxy S10

Now for the hands on/first impression reviews:

  • Sam Rutherford from Gizmodo sees the GS10 as packed with hard to find mobile tech as Wi-Fi 6 and a new take on the notched selfie cam compared to its predecessor and in the US. Being the first Samsung device powered by the new Snapdragon 855 chipset was also impressive. Meanwhile, the Galaxy 10E can be the phone for those who want a non-curved screen without breaking the bank. Plus, one of the very few who does not have a notch but instead have an Infinity-O hole giving more screen surface usage.
  • Matt Swider of of Tech Radar sees the high 93.1% screen-to-body ratio and in-screen fingerprint sensor is definitely a pro in the Galaxy S10. The painful part is the price and (for the non-Bixby fans), there’s still the Bixby button unfortunately. Initially the same with the S10 Plus sentiments.
  • CNET’s Jessica Dolcourt immediately noticed the S10 Plus as very slippery to the point it fell landing on her purse or lap (yikes). While the Infinity-O display blends with the large screen with slim bezels.

Ready to get yours?

Preorders for the Galaxy S10 line (all LTE) already started and will be available by March 8! For those looking for a luxury mobile device, the official launch for the Galaxy Fold shows its availability by April 26.

Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus Coming Soon: and one more?

Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus Coming Soon: and one more?

Are we all in for a treat this coming February?

With CES in full swing and World Mobile Congress 2019 just around the corner, so are the new Samsung Galaxy devices! One of the newest surprises we may be seeing is not just 2 but 3 phones from the Galaxy S line this year!

Get Ready for Galaxy S10!

It looks like we’re getting even slimmer bezels from last year’s S9 release. As for the displays, the Galaxy S10 will have a 6.1-in screen with one front facing camera. The larger Galaxy S10 Plus boasts a 6.4-inch display with 2 front facing cam and 4 rear cameras (yes… FOUR). Additionally, it looks like the newest in the gang: the Galaxy S10 Lite will carry a 5.8-inch display (think of it as the iPhone XR of the launch in regard to it’s scaled back approach).

Like all other phones, will these have a notch? Well, they’ll have a “punch hole”, which is called “Infinity-O” display looking dot (or two) in front on the top right display for the selfie camera (quite similar to the Galaxy A8s).

All 3 devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 chip (for the US Market) or Exynos 9820 (for the rest of the world). Samsung might be bringing their A-game as we might now get to see an in-fingerprint scanner using an ultrasonic scanner from Qualcomm.

Ok, the million dollar question (and may be literally) are the prices. Expected prices for the 128GB storage are:

  • Galaxy S10 Lite: $850
  • Galaxy S10- $1,000
  • Galaxy S10+ : $1,130

The S10 will have a model with 512GB of storage, which will cost around $1,250, while the S10+ will have 512GB and 1TB that will sell for around $1,390 and $1,760 respectively. (yes… 1760!!.. dollars)

When will we probably see the new phones? Estimated unveiling is February 20, while preorder will likely open on the same day and the official launch will be on March 8.

Which device will you be getting? Or are you more excited to see what surprise Samsung has in store for us on the of the launch? Same here!!

We’ll keep an eye on them and help you out when the time comes by making sure they are protected from any kind of heartbreaking scenario! For now you can check out our website or Amazon Storefront Page to keep your current device intact at ALL costs!

First impression reviews are out too!

Just last week, Samsung launched Galaxy Note 9 and it’s already available for preorderLet’s do a quick recap of the launch highlights then go for a rundown of first impression reviews! Check out the highlight video from Samsung.

The Galaxy Note 9 has a whopping 6.4-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with 516 pixels per inch and a 2960×1440 resolution. And so far the Korean tech-giant calls it their “largest Infinity Display ever.” It is also 1TB ready with expandable memory, but you can choose from 6GB RAM/128GB built-in storage or 8GB RAM/512GB built-in storage.

Now for the initial reviews!

Mashable reviewer Raymond Wong gave it a score of 4.5 out of 5. Plus it’s part of the Mashable Choice. Wong writes that Samsung was able to tip the scale in their favor (for now) with a lot of great internal upgrades that affects everyday use such as a phone’s performance. And how they’re able to keep innovating the S Pen too. He also notes that the display is awesome and content looks very clear.

CNET’s Jessica Dolcourt gave this device a score of 9 out of 10 too. She notes that the Galaxy Note 9 specs are top-notch and considers it as “an everything phone”. She was able to test the Coral Blue and Lavender Purple where the colors boldly stand out.

Engadget’s Cherlynn Low gave a 92 out of 100 for the new phablet. She was more impressed by Samsung’s new Flaw Detection feature that immediately notifies if someone blinked on the photo and such. The device is also a multitasking beast according to her with its Snapdragon 845 combined with the 6GB RAM.

Finally, BGR’s Zach Epstein points out that while most changes from the Note 8 to the Note 9 are great, there’s one great con: it’s expensive. Really, really expensive.
