Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Fast approaching

Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Fast approaching

It’ll be here before we know it!

It’s official: the launch is happening on August 9th folks! Tune in at 11AM US EDT from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Now, a little info from the rumor mill…

Overall, the Galaxy Note 9 is reported to be quite the combined version of the Note 8 and the Galaxy S9. The Note 9 will have a 6.3-in OLED screen with 2960 x 1440 resolution and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio (plus a maximum brightness of 1150 nits). The overall device size dimension is 160.5 x 74.8 x 8.6 mm.

For all of you note-takers and artists, the S Pen may get a huge upgrade with Bluetooth functionality built-in as Samsung filed this feature with the Federal Communications Commission.

It has also been reported the S pen can take pictures remotely, control music and can be a pointer for presentations— which may mean that it might have its own small battery for the connection.

Other features for the Galaxy Note 9 could included a rear fingerprint reader, Bixby 2.0 and a Snapdragon 845 chipset or the Samsung Exynos 9810. There will likely be a battery increase too to 4,000mAh from the 3,300mAh from the Note 8.

So far, it looks like the new Samsung device will be available in 5 different colors. The first 3 colors: Black, Gray and Lavender should be available at launch, while Blue and Brown (or closer to Gold) models will only be available at selected areas.

Bonus: there’s already a review for the Note 9.

According to the review, the base model gets a bump in storage up to 128GB with 6GB of RAM inside. Other versions expected to be released will boast 8GB/256GB and 8GB/512GB for some serious backup potential.

While the camera features are quite similar to the Galaxy S9, Russian tech reporter Eldar Murtazin also says it’s quite an incremental upgrade from the Note 8. The rumored price so far in Russia will be around 70,000 Russian Rubles minimum or $1,128.67.

Still deciding if you’ll get the Note 9?

Don’t worry, August 9th will be here before you know it and you’ll have all the info you need to make a decision. If you think it’s the phone for you, we’ll be ready with the screen protectors and cables you’ll need to protect your new investment!

Galaxy Note 9: launching early?

Galaxy Note 9: launching early?

Yup, you read that right!

The rumor mill ain’t sleeping and new info is running down like waterfalls!  Not to worry as we’ve got all the latest key info below:

How early?

SamMobile reports that the late July or early August target launch may get a go signal as the tech giant started its production two months earlier this year compared to the Note 8They’re also  fast-tracking the process to get ready to announce the Galaxy X next year which we will discuss in future blogs for sure! 😉

New additions for the Note 9?

We got the first leaked photo of the Note 9 courtesy of leaker Ice Universe. Overall, it looks just the same as the previous but with smaller bezels in this case.

The Note 9 is rumored to have a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED display and Super Speed Dual Pixel camera with an 8MP front camera and dual 12MP rear cameraIt will also be faster as its powered with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.

It has been reported there may be an option of 8GB ram and a whopping 512GB storage! Great for those who love taking pictures and most especially hi-res photos! But this may just be available in selected markets (hopefully US is one of them!). And there would be added cost… there always is! The standard Galaxy Note 9 model will have 64GB storage.

The Galaxy Note 9 will come equipped with a 3,850mAh battery and rumors suggest a new color: Teddy Brown. TechAdvisor is putting an estimate of £869 or around $ 1,000 for the upcoming device.

What’s the same?

We will still see a physical fingerprint sensor since most of the new or revolutionary upgrades may be are saved for the Galaxy X. The Note 9 will still have a micro-SD slot which can add 512GB storage–making it the first phone to have 1TB in total.

Can we rewind on the price?

Yep, $1,000. But if your heart’s set on the Note 9, we’ll help keep it protected without adding another dent on your wallet!

For now, you can arm your current phone with us! Check out our Amazon Storefront Page or our website now!

Galaxy Note 9: Rumors on what is coming around the corner

Galaxy Note 9: Rumors on what is coming around the corner

Excited for Samsung’s next flagship device?

After Samsung was able to redeem themselves last year with the Note 8, the next one (codenamed Crown) is definitely on its way! What can we expect from the new phablet? Here’s a rundown from the rumor mill!

The Korea Herald got an exclusive that Samsung is almost done with their neural processing units or “AI chips”, which can help up their game in the area versus Apple, Huawei and the likes; and most likely will be available for the Note 9. What’s confirmed is we’ll be seeing a Bixby 2.0 in the Note 9 according to mobile chief DJ Koh last Mobile World Congress. We’re pretty sure this new device will also be powered by the Snapdragon 845 just like the S9 and S9+.

What’s new is it may have a larger screen display: a 6.4-inch Infinity Display with 2,960×1,440 pixels and may even 4K resolution too.

They’re also going bigger on the battery (yep, they’re going for it even after the Note 7 battery debacle) to 3,850mAh or 4,000mAh to help power up the device.

Will we see the in-finger sensor?

Last MWC, an in-fingerprint screen has been launched from a Chinese company. But it’s in the gray area or “will they or won’t they” situation with reports coming from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. For now we can only have fingers crossed…

The Animojis can make its way to the Note 9 too by the way!

A new camera feature we might see is HDR video recording which will be a first for Samsung phones . Plus, this device will also have a headphone jack and may come with a free pair of AKG headphones.

It could be released earlier (than last year’s model) too as the tech-giant wants to make up for the not-so-stellar sales of the Galaxy S9 and S9+; also to launch ahead of the next iPhones this September. We’re looking at around July 2018 or August 2018 launch.

Of course, the elephant in the room is the price: estimated at around $930 to $960; $100 more from the S9+. There’s also been reported leaked photos of the Note 9 though we might have to take this with a grain of salt.

Whoa, the phone looks awesome but that price isn’t really nice to look at…

We totally understand where you’re coming from. Nowadays, to get a flagship phone means shelling out around $1,000. That’s why we at Tech Armor make sure that you get the best protection for your devices at a fraction of the price!

Right now we’re protecting the latest Samsung Flagships: the Galaxy S9 and S9+ and Apple devices too like the iPhone X.  See more at our Amazon Store Front Page or website to arm your device!

Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus: Officially Announced!

Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus: Officially Announced!

The Mobile World Congress started off with a bang as Samsung launched their Galaxy S9 and S9 PlusLet’s dive in with some initial reviews and features!

What’s new?

Let’s go first with their tagline: Camera ReimaginedImproved camera features include the super slow-mo that captures 960 frames per second. They went further by offering automatic Motion Detection that lets the phone start recording when it senses the movement.

They also have the AR Emoji (we’re guessing their answer to Apple’s Animojis) where you take a selfie and the phone will transform you into an emoji. You can change its mood and background that you can practically send to anyone.  Plus, they’ve added an Intelligent scan which is combining the Iris Scanner and Face Scanner so the phone will automatically have 2 ways of unlocking with you just looking at it (a response as well to Apple’s Face ID). Though CNET notes it’s not secure enough for mobile payments yet.

Now focusing at the back of the devices, you could also immediately see the fingerprint scanner placed below the camerathe singular camera for the S9 and the dual-camera for the S9 Plus.

Samsung also gave the devices a form of surround sound audio with one of the microphones acting as second speaker. Trustedreviews goes on record saying it’s in the running to be the best phone of 2018.

What stayed from the previous Galaxy models?

The Infinity Display with the Galaxy S9 still boasts a 5.8-in screen and a 6.2-in for the Galaxy S9 Plus like their predecessors. Also the same: an 18.5:9 aspect ratio screen. Headphone jack lovers rejoice: it’s still on both of the flagship devices, which is also definitely approved by CNET. Another approval is the IP68 water resistance for both phones.

There’s also the formal and fun colors for both devices namely: Lilac Purple, Coral Blue, Midnight Black and Titanium Gray. The first 3 will be available in the US.

Ok, I’m sold! Now, how do I get the phone?

You can get yours by pre-ordering on Samsung’s website, but be prepared to dig deep into your wallet. The Galaxy S9 costs $719.99, while the Galaxy S9 Plus starts at $839.99. If you pre-ordered through the Shop Samsung App from March 2-5, you’ll get a guarantee delivery of March 14, however the global release is set at March 16.

Plus, the Verge also found other ways and places you can buy your phone like Best Buy. Read through their choices and pick the best one for you!

Hold on, how much is the phone again?

We know it’s quite pricey (no way to go but up as they say). But don’t worry as we’ve got your screen covered!

We’re back with our 3D-Curved Edge Ballistic Glass Case-Friendly Screen Protectors for both devices! You can also opt for our Wet-Applied Thermoplastic Film Curved Edge Display Coverage!

As promised, Tech Armor will always have your back!!!

Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8 Reviews: the best device for you?

Galaxy Note 8 Reviews: the best device for you?

Was Samsung able to redeem themselves?

After the Galaxy Note 7 was practically synonymous with “explosion”, Samsung released their next-gen Galaxy Note 8. And not far along came the reviews. Are you eyeing on the Note 8 to be your next phone? We’ve got you covered!

Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8

What’s to love?

Even with a great 6.3-inch “Infinity Display” screen size the phone is easy to hold in one hand. Then you can use your other hand for the S-Pen and tap away on the device. It’s also not as big as the other chunky phones like the iPhone 7 Plus. This is so far the biggest screen ever placed in a Note too.

The Note 8 also has a great AMOLED display even in power saving mode. Plus even with the “always-on” display, there’s not much worry on battery drain as the display only uses power for colors other than black (smart design!).

Going back to the S-Pen, there’s been some great and helpful upgrades on it too! One very usable perk is writing a note even with the screen locked up to 100 pages and more!

Plus Live Message that can be made into a GIF and send in social media which is pretty neat for this reviewer.

Another relatively new trick in the device is hiding the screen navigation bar with a double tap which can be handy for times you want to maximize the screen for an app.

There’s also a headphone jack for those who still need to have it!

Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8

Samsung also joined the bandwagon by placing dual cameras on the Note 8. The Korean tech giant did not hold back in making sure image quality is amazing according to this review. You can also shoot bokeh-like images called “Live Focus.”

Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8

What’s NOT to love?

If you’re not much of a fan of Bixby and the dedicated Bixby key, sorry to say but it’s here to stay…and probably for keeps. This reviewer still quite hated the fact the fingerprint sensor is at the back near the camera like the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. And the alternatives don’t work as well either.

Repairing / replacing the display can be pretty difficult since you have to take out the glass case with its strong adhesive. So, it’s best to keep that display protected!!

With great perks, come great/expensive price. The starting price is at $930 for the unlocked version and can go for $960 through US carriers.

Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8

OK, I definitely want to buy the Note 8! But this is some hefty price!?

Shelling out almost $1,000 for an awesome device is definitely no laughing matter. That’s why we at Tech Armor want to make sure that you get to maximize your investment with no worries!

Our 3D-Edge Ballistic Glass Case-Friendly Screen Protector will keep your screen scratch and fingerprint-free! And those accidental drops? Our protectors will also take the brunt of the fall for your screen! 😉

Don’t worry about phone accessories for your new Note 8 like Powerbanks, Cables, Car Mounts & Car Chargers. Tech Armor’s got your back—always! 😉

Samsung Galaxy Note 8: bigger and better

Galaxy Note 8: bigger and better

It’s finally here folks!

After the explosion (literally) of last year’s Note 7, Samsung’s finally back with the Note 8! Planning to buy yours? We’ve got you covered with this announcement rundown from Unpacked 2017!

What’s awesome on the phone?

Display

The Galaxy Note 8 has a bigger display with 6.3 inches and 2960 x 1440 resolution. It’s got the AMOLED Infinity Display like the Galaxy S8 and a 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

Phone Features/Highlights

App wise there’s App Pair where you can create shortcut and simultaneously launch 2 apps at once in a MultiWindow.

There’s the Screen Off Memo and pin to always on display screen update. Just double tap the note you pinned on the screen with the S Pen and start writing. You can write until 100 pages. Speaking of S Pen, Samsung made it have a finer tip and better pressure sensitivity. You can also translate sentences by hovering over the sentence with the S Pen.

The S Pen can now make messages animated with Live Message. It can be added to photos. It’s in a standard animation format, easy to share with everyone.

Samsung literally doubled the camera power by powering the phone with Wide Lens and Telephoto Lens. They’re proud to say it’s the first smartphone to also have Dual Optical Image Stabilization available for both lenses. They even compared it with the iPhone 7 camera:

And just like the Galaxy S8, Dex, Gear VR and Gear 360 is also for the Note 8. Knox is also placed in the device to secure the phone. And of course Bixby.

Oh, did we mention it’ll also have earphones from AKG.

How about the battery? It’s powered by a smaller 3,300 mAh battery (pretty sure just to be on the safe side).

Under the hood it’ll be powered by 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 10 nm processor in the US. It’ll have 6GB RAM and choice of 64/128/256 GB storage, expandable up to 256 GB.

When’s it available?

It’ll be out by September 15! Though you can already preorder today and get some awesome perks.

Colors Midnight Black and Orchid Gray will be available in the US. While no announcement made yet where Maple Gold and Deepsea Blue will be.

No official price yet in Samsung’s Page as of this writing. Though several carriers have posted their outright prices:

  • Verizon: $960 off contract for 64GB model
  • AT&T: $950 outright
  • Sprint: $999.99 full retail

ALMOST $1,000?! No kidding…

Unfortunately, we aren’t kidding on the price. With that kind of price, it definitely deserves the best protection. Especially that awesome screen!!! No worries, Tech Armor has just what you’ll need!

We’re also taking preorders for the 3D Curved Ballistic Glass Screen Protector! It’ll be here just in time when you get your Note 8. We’ve got your other accessories covered too to keep your Galaxy Note 8 charged, synced and ready! Need extra USB-Type C Devices? We’ve got lots for you to choose from!

Going on a road trip? Make sure you’ve got a Dual USB Car Charger and a Car Mount!

And if you’re always on the go and 3,300mAh is not enough, keep it charged with our ActivePower Power Bank!

We’ll always have your back! 😉

Galaxy Note 8: Yes, it’s just around the corner!

Are you ready for what Samsung has in store for the Galaxy Note 8?!

What does Samsung have under its sleeve for the Galaxy Note 8? We got you covered! 😉

What’s new from the rumor mill?

Update: New Galaxy Note 8 leak just came up from Slashleaks! Although still not confirmed if this render is the final phone design, it quite agrees with all other information that have come up.

First off, the fingerprint scanner. Remember its awkward placement in the Galaxy S8/S8+? Unfortunately, the Note 8 will probably have the same fate. Yep, at the back beside the camera too.  But there’s a bright side! The upcoming phone will feature a 6.3-inch curved edge infinity displayAnd for the first time, dual cameras might be a go for a Samsung phone! It’s said to be 12MP with optical image stabilization.

Samsung is reportedly working with Qualcomm for plans of the Note 8 utilizing a Snapdragon 836.There’s also another rumor that the Note 8 will be powered by a 3,300 mAh battery— which is smaller than the battery used in the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 7. Since we’re on the topic (and we’re pretty sure you’re also wondering), is the battery going to be legitimately safe? So far outlooks are positive. Especially with the Korean giant’s 8-Point Battery Safety Check.

Some of the other rumored specs are: 6GB RAM, USB-Type C connector and a 3.5mm jack. While available colors are black, blue and gold.

When will the phone be launched? Estimates over the web are either August, September. Though AndriodAuthority specifically reports it’ll most likely be August 26 in New York City.

Another magical question is: how much will this new phone be? BGR’s source says it’ll be just under a $ 1,000.

Is it truly the rise of $1,000 smartphones?!

Oh yes, the price is on the rise folks. The upcoming iPhone 8 is also in this category… We totally understand that paying that huge amount of money for a great device is no joke. And we know it’s best to have that investment safe from any harm.

Not to worry! Tech Armor will always have your back! For just a fraction of a price, we’ll be there to protect your phone from drops, scratches and even the daily wear and tear! As for the Galaxy Note 8, stay tuned as we just might have what you need to make sure your gadget is all safe and secured! 😉

Can the LG G6 Compete With the Galaxy S8?

LG G6: does it have what it takes?

Can LG’s flagship phone compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S8/S8+?

LG also released its new flagship phone this year: the LG G6.

It’s also one of the first phones that came out this year—which was then followed by the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ and in the coming months, the new Apple flagship phone.

So what’s new on the LG G6?

Read on to find out more!

One of the main highlights from LG’s flagship phone is its 18:9 FullVision Display, having an 80% body to screen ratio. That’s a 10% increase on body to screen ratio from last year’s LG G5.

How’s the reviews?

The step up in the display style was not amiss in this review. It showed very little bezels  and creating the screen more vertical which is helpful for viewing lists like Facebook and other apps. Plus the narrow body is easier to hold.

Trusted Reviews also talked about how the LG G6 went back to basics for the design–compared with the G5. This year’s flagship has a sleek look plus a fingerprint scanner that’s not awkwardly placed like of its rival the Galaxy S8/S8+.

Performance-wise, it features the older Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset though there’s not lag evident or concerns when playing high-powered games like Asphalt.

While this review agrees that no problem with the older CPU. It’s also quite easy to use since the phone is thinner that it seems. The software also took advantage of the 18:9 ratio making 2 equal squares for split views.

LG’s Always On Display is a great feature said in this review— one of the best in the mobile industry.

LG vs Samsung

The two Korean Giants continue to compete as the best Android phone around.

LG right now is in a good shape by reaching an all time high US market share, slimming the gap between them Samsung. So what updates are there between the two?

Netflix fans are in for a treat if they get the LG G6. So far it’s the only Android phone where you could stream HDR and Dolby Vision!

Both phones have single speakers at the bottom which can easily be covered by the hand. But sound quality goes to the LG G6 as it has much fuller and better sound speaker compared to the Samsung Galaxy S8.

If you’re using lots of Google services, you’re in luck with the LG G6 since it has the Google Assistant natively. Major pro in this is it’s easier to search what you’re looking for in the web. Compared to Bixby which helps out more in controlling your phone.

Easier location of the fingerprint unlocker and wide angle option photos also gives a win to the LG G6 compared to the Galaxy S8.

Speaking of photos, after using both this review says macromode is better on the G6 with more features and details. Stabilization is better too. While the Galaxy S8’s photos are more realistic, takes better selfies and has better colors. The overall image is also smoother.

Despite the awesome display the LG G6 has, we can’t ignore the Infinity Display in the Galaxy S8. And in this reviewer’s perception, Samsung is overall more stunning with just a little cost gap. One feature is for the full screen extension function on the Galaxy S8.

Digital Trends agrees on this when they compared the phones on the following topics: Specs, Design, Display, Software and additional perks.

For the specs, Galaxy S8 is quite better–like having latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 for the US on paper. The software also has the capability of making your phone a mini-CPU with the DeX. And includes AKG earphones just to name a few.

The LG G6 doesn’t even come with earphones in the box. But both use the 3.5mm headjack so at least that’s a win!!!

One of the other important questions is the price: so just how much are they?

Price range for the phones are:

LG G6 at $650-$720

Galaxy S8 at $720-$750

Galaxy S8+ at $840-$850

Wow, they’re all so expensive…

We understand your sentiments on that (especially with the larger glass screens) so as always, we’ve got you covered!

If you decided to go with the LG G6, you can arm it with our flagship screen: our Premium Ballistic Glass Screen Protector!

Buying the Galaxy S8? You can get either our 3D Curved Ballistic Glass Full-Coverage or 3D Curved Ballistic Glass Case-Friendly Screen Protectors!

Which is the better choice? iPhone 7 / 7 Plus vs Galaxy S8 / S8+

Which is the better choice? iPhone 7/7 Plus vs. Galaxy S8/S8+

Still wondering which phone to get?

As always Samsung and Apple are always quick to say they offer the best phone around. Still deciding which phone is the best to invest in? We’ve got you covered! Read on below to see a review of the pros and cons of both phones!

Display

Just by looking at the phones it’s safe to say there’s definitely a huge difference between the 4 screens.

Spec-wise for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ we see 5.8” and 6.2” displays respectively. Both having Quad HD + Super AMOLED and certified with Mobile HDR Premium TM by the UHD Alliance. Most are pretty impressed with Samsung’s new achievement and its sharper looking screen.

While the iPhone 7/ 7 Plus that have 4.7” and 5.5” Retina HD displays respectively. Both have wide color display and dual-domain pixels for wide viewing angles.

Samsung also has a higher screen-to-body ratio phones compared to Apple’s.

Display win goes to Samsung: by a landslide.

Camera

On paper, both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have a 8MP AF front camera that has F1.7 Aperture and a rear camera of Dual Pixel 12MP AF and F1.7 Aperture. The phone’s camera is reminiscent of the camera hardware from Galaxy S7.

While the iPhone 7 has a 12MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and the iPhone 7 Plus has a 12MP wide-angle (f/1.8 aperture) and telephoto (f/2.8 aperture) cameras.

These phones were tested on the field by various reviewers. One of the highlights found is the iPhone 7 Plus gives a more natural image while the Galaxy S8+ gets better low light photos in this video. While this video shows Samsung’s flagship phone having vibrant colors while the iPhone 7 Plus has smoother panning.

Software and Processor

Apple is still considered having a smoother, updated yet simple platform that users can easily navigate through. And almost all Apple users, with 79% of active iOS devices are up to date with updates.

Unlike Android where only 4.9% of active devices use the latest Android Nougat. Most users are still using the Android Lollipop which was first released November 2014. Google can make a comeback by pushing through with their policies for their third-party apps.

Several reviewers initially tried to check out the performances of the phones such as this and this one in different ways.

Safe to say, both phones have their pros and cons and it’s a tie.

More than just superphones

During the launch, Samsung launched a lot of other devices that go with their flagship phone. There’s the new Gear 360, Gear VR, different types of unlocking the phone and the new DeX Station—making the device a mini-CPU.

For the iPhone 7/ 7 Plus we’ve also noticed different devices that can go with it. There’s the new Hover Camera Passport, Skoogmusic Skoog 2.0 Tactile Musical Interface, iDevices Switch Gamevice Controllers and more.

Bonus: Pretty sure at the back of your mind (and we can’t blame you) is this question: is there any chance the new Galaxy phones can or will burst into flames? Other than there’s no reports, we got to see this video. So it’s highly unlikely it’ll burst unlike the last one. Kudos Samsung!

Both seems to be great phones! But with greatness comes cost…
